Other Sydnors

Who Cannot be Connected

 (Arranged by County, then Alphabetically)

Devon

DISCUSSION:  It seems probable that these were Sydnors, probably descended from the Gloucester Sydnors.  The repeated phonetic similarity with Sydnor created a strong argument to find these people as kin.

E???. HANIBAL SYDNOR [HANIBALL SIDNER], born circa 1670?.

Married 24 September 1695 Joanna Chilson at East Teignmouth .[1]

E???. ALEXANDER SYDNOR [CIDNER], born circa 1705?.

          Married circa 1730? unknown.

Alexander's father could easily have been Hanibal.

Child:

E???.      FRANCES [FRANSIS CIDNER], daughter, baptized 15 April 1735 at Swimbridge .[2]

Durham

DISCUSSION:  Elizabeth Sadner was an unlikely Sydnor because of the spelling of her last name (except there were two Ann Sadners in London) and because there were no other Sydnors found in the north of England (except Samuel Sydner shown hereafter).  Perhaps the spelling of the surname was following an earlier misscription of Sydnor or perhaps it was a miscription of such as Sadler.

E???. ELIZABETH SYDNOR [SADNER], born circa 1760?.

Married 8 April 1784 Simon Smith at Bishopwearmouth .[3]

DISCUSSION:  Certainly a Sydnor, Samuel Sydner has provided a puzzle because there were no other Sydnors found in the north of England (except possibly Elizabeth Sadner shown immediately above).  Relocating that distance in that direction was most unusual.

E???. SAMUEL SYDNOR [SYDNER], born circa 1800?.

Married circa 1825? Isabella Moor .

Child:

              E???.      JOSEPH , baptized 19 January 1832 at Sunderland .[4]

Essex

DISCUSSION:  Surprisingly, there was no logical place to connect this person.  Because of the date of the marriage, there should have been a birth record.  There was no record of Sydnors connected with Magdalene Laver.

E???. ANNE SYDNOR [SIDNER], born circa 1560?.

Married 30 March 1581 Robert Thurgood at Magdalen Laver .[5]

Anne's father was probably born circa 1530?.

Gloucester

DISCUSSION:  These were undoubtedly Sydnors, probably from the Sydnors in Kent.  There were no recorded births by which to connect them to the genealogy.

E???. ELIZABETH SYDNOR [SIDNER], baptized 14 March 1562/3 at Westbury-on-Trym .[6]

Elizabeth's father was probably born circa 1530?.

E???. JANE SYDNOR [SIDNER], born circa 1605?.

Married 1 April 1630 Thomas Walker at Hawkesbury .[7]

Jane's father was probably born circa 1575?.

E???. JANE SYDNOR [SIDNER], born circa 1655?.

Married 22 June 1676 John Nicholls at Stroud .[8]

Kent

DISCUSSION:

E???. JOHN SYDNOR [SEDNER], born circa 1775?.

          Married circa 1800? Elizabeth ____ .

E???.   JOHN , baptized 9 November 1806 at St Mary parish in Sandwich.[9]

London

DISCUSSION:  The irregular spelling Sadner, repeated with both Anns, was also found with Elizabeth Sadner in Durham in the north of England.  There were no recorded births by which to connect them to the genealogy.

E???. ANN SYDNOR [SADNER]

Married 10 June 1830 at St Martin in the Fields in Westminster in Middlesex [now London] Daniel Cock .[10]

E???. ANN SYDNOR [SADNER]

Married 25 September 1836 at St Leonard in Shoreditch in Middlesex [now London] Charles Allis .[11]

DISCUSSION:  There was no recorded birth of a James Sydnor to use to form a connection in the genealogy.

E???. JAMES SYDNOR [SIDMORE] , buried 1738 at .Christ Church in Newgate Street .[12]

Norfolk

DISCUSSION:

E???. ANNE SYDNOR , buried 19 January 1690/1 at St Andrew in Norwich.[13]

This Anne may have been possibly the daughter of Henry Sydnor of Yarmouth [E???], or possibly Charles and Mary (Pinner) Sydnor of Norwich, or possibly William and Bridget (Reeve) Sydnor.

DISCUSSION:

E???. ANNE SYDNOR [SEDNOR], baptized September 1700 at St Stephen's parish in Norwich.[14]

Anne was perhaps the daughter of Charles [E142] or Henry [E143] Sydnor.  Either of these men may have continued to live in the parish of St Stephen.

DISCUSSION:  This Charles may have been born elsewhere and died young in Norwich.

E???. CHARLES SYDNOR , buried 16 May 1687 at St Peter Mancroft in Norwich.[15]

DISCUSSION:  There were no recorded births or any other method to connect this Mary with the genealogy.

E???. MARY SYDNOR , born circa 1690?.

Married 6 February 1713/4 at St Augustine parish in Norwich Thomas Ingram .[16]

Surrey

DISCUSSION:  Clearly a Sydnor, there was no recorded birth or any other method to connect Daniel in the genealogy.

E???. DANIEL SYDNOR [SYDMORE], died 13 June 1753 at Chertsey .[17]

Worcester

DISCUSSION:  Clearly a Sydnor, there was no recorded birth of an Eleann or any other method to connect her in the genealogy.  She was probably connected to Gloucester and Devon Sydnors.

E???. ELEANN SYDNOR [SYDNER], born circa 1635?.

Married 18 September 1658 Edward Hooper at Hanley Castle .[18]
